The Art of

Ink and Thread

At Kansas Ink and Thread I was responsible for designing and handling all artwork that came down the pipeline. I served as both Graphic Designer and Production Artist. Setting up artwork for screenprinting and embroidery. Design services were also offered and I often had to completely recreate an order or design it from the ground up. To the right is an example of what a typical order might look like. The customer provided an example, I recreated it, and then the recreation is embroidered.

LMS Track Shirts

A big part of my job was making sure whatever artwork we recieved was vector art. If the customer didn’t provide vector art, it was my responsibility to quickly recreate it in Illustrator. I already had developed skills in adobe Illustrator when I started so I was able to make short work of our daily orders.

Outside of single apparel orders I was also be tasked with developing guides for artwork. This helped streamline the production process and gave new tools to our customer service team. I took stock and created guides for our thread colors, Vinyl types and colors, Embroidery fonts, as well as a shirt placement guide. I also began an asset library to keep track of logos and stock art across orders. I worked hard to accurately develop and finish these projects as it allowed me to increase the speed I was able to finish orders.

I cannot share any of them here as I was not given permission to, however I was allowed this guide to the right for my portfolio. It was for “Victorus”. They had placed several orders with us, both screen printing and embroidery. So I was asked to create a guide to keep colors consistant across both mediums.
